Did you ever get culture shock? If you did, what was it?

  1. When I visited the university in the Philippines, I saw that there isn't any cover on the toilet in the restroom.

    Can you imagine how I handled that?

  2. Hi Tiffany,
    When I first came to Korea I had a terrible time with how men were put first all the time. I was raised to be equal all the time so I really struggled with how my bosses would only listen to male teachers or how I was expected to do men told me. Eventually I solved the problem by only taking jobs where my boss understood the cultural differences so that I could feel equal to my male co-workers.

  3. When I traveled to Tokyo, I took a subway several times.
    I was shocked. It was very quiet.
    I could only hear Korean traveler's voice.

  4. When I first came to go aborad,that was eastern Europe. I was shcocked that people kissed and hugged in public place like on subway or street. I turned my eyes from them.

    These days, It's natural in Korea. Isn't it?

  5. While I was traveling to Tibet, I took on the train from Shanghai to Xian. I used bed wagon and I met chinese family there. It was 2004 and we talked about communists and General Jang and Mao. I was really surperised at the view they got. comparing with mine, I thought about the anti-communist education what I inputed during 1980s.
